Queen of the Night aria, from The Magic Flute
An aria is a featured song in an opera for a single singer. In this aria, the Queen of Night, a fairytale-type creature, is urging her daughter to kill a man named Sarastro, and threatens to disown her if she doesn't. This aria became famous for its incredible showcase of vocal range and talent. (Famous part begins at 1:45)
Mozart wrote many other famous operas, including The Marriage of Figaro and Don Giovanni.
