Muzio Clementi (1752-1832)
Italian, Classical Period
Sonatina in C op. 36 no 1
Sonata in G minor op 34 no 2
This sonata, like many at the time, has three movements:
I - Largo e sostenuto (Very slow and sustained) — Allegro con fuoco (Lively with force)
II - Un poco adagio (A little slow)
III - Molto allegro (Very lively!)
The first movement has, in my opinion, some of the most tense and exciting moments in all of music from the Classical Period.
